Islanders are being encouraged to get together over coffee, cake or breakfast later this month to raise funds for local people affected by cancer.

Jersey’s Greatest Coffee Morning is returning on Friday 25 September, with Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey calling on islanders to make this year’s event the biggest yet.

The annual fundraiser is once again being backed by IQ-EQ as headline sponsor, with families, schools, community groups, sports clubs and businesses invited to take part.

Organisers say people can get involved in whatever way suits them, from hosting a traditional coffee morning or bake sale to arranging a workplace breakfast, community gathering or an entirely different fundraising event.

Events held during the final week of September will raise money for Macmillan Jersey’s services for people affected by cancer.

The charity said the need for its support is significant, with cancer now directly affecting one in two people during their lifetime.

Money raised will help fund the free emotional, practical and wellbeing services provided through The Oasis, Macmillan Jersey’s dedicated cancer support and wellbeing centre.

The centre provides support to individuals and families dealing with cancer, including emotional support, wellbeing therapies, practical advice and guidance.

Macmillan Jersey is a fully independent local charity and receives no government funding or financial support from Macmillan UK.

The charity said this means money raised locally stays in Jersey to support islanders.

Kevin Alway, Senior Operations Lead at Macmillan Jersey, said the Coffee Morning had become a “powerful” example of the island coming together.

“Cancer will directly affect one in two of us, meaning almost every family, friendship group, workplace and community organisation will be touched by cancer in some way,” he said.

“That’s why this year’s message is simple – however you choose to get involved, we want you to be part of it.”

He added that people could host a coffee morning, organise a workplace fundraiser, bring together a community group or simply meet friends and family for a cup of coffee.

“Your support helps ensure we can continue providing essential services to local people affected by cancer,” he said.

IQ-EQ is supporting the event for the third consecutive year.

Hundreds of islanders took part in last year’s event, raising funds for Macmillan Jersey.

The charity is hoping even more people, organisations and businesses will sign up in 2026.
