A concerned member of the public called the Jersey Coastguard at approximately 19:45 last night.

However, after a two hour search, nothing was found.

The search involved the Coastguard, the Fire & Rescue Service, Police, Ambulance, and Air Rescue.

It took place in St Aubin’s Bay following “an unconfirmed report of what appeared to be a man walking into the sea wearing clothes, at approximately 19:45 last night”.

The Fire Service and RNLI launched their inshore boats, and Air Rescue Channel Islands launched its drone.

A statement issued this morning explained: “The emergency services were informed when a concerned member of the public called Jersey Coastguard.

“All services attended the scene where the person was last seen heading towards the shoreline.”

An “extensive search” was carried out along the shoreline by fire crews and police officers on foot, while the water was searched by the Fire Service, RNLI and Air Rescue.

However, “nothing was found and the search was stood down approximately two hours later”.
