Georges Le Maistre (62) was found dead at the scene of the accident in Upper Midvale Road at around 2.20 pm yesterday.
Investigators from the Health and Safety Executive are working with the police to investigate the cause of the accident, but the police say it would not be appropriate to reveal the nature of the incident yet.
Mr Le Maistre’s family were told about the accident yesterday, and are being supported by specially trained liaison officers from the States of Jersey Police.
