James John Matthews, who was the Deputy Headteacher at St. John’s School, appeared before the Royal Court via video link.
His lawyer, Advocate David Steenson, entered guilty pleas on his behalf to three charges of making indecent photographs of children under the age of 16.
Each of the charges relates to a different category of images, with Matthews admitting he had 12 images and a video at the most serious level.
In total, he admitted making 33 indecent images, all of which were made on or before 9 December 2019 according to the formal indictment.
The Deputy Bailiff, Robert MacRae, informed Matthews that as a result of his guilty plea his name was automatically added to the Sex Offenders’ Register. The period of time for which Matthews’ name will remain on the register will be decided by the Court at a later date.
Matthews’ sentencing date will be announced at a later hearing.
In the meantime, he remains in custody.
