Jersey Post said that two addresses were on the black zip-up bag’s label – one local address and one in Manchester – but said both have been contacted and they’ve had “no luck finding the owner”.
The team has also investigated the contents of the suitcase, but said there were no clues about the owner inside.
As a result, they’re turning to the “powers of social media” to help get the suitcase back to its rightful owner.
A post to Facebook yesterday afternoon has since been shared more than 200 times – and also generated some jokes.
One islander suggested: “Plot twist: the owner is INSIDE the suitcase.”
