The Met says snow is on its way but can’t predict whether it will cause any problems.

Duty Forecaster Peter Munns said: “We’re in for some colder air this week which will lead to hail showers and a risk of thunder. As we go into the weekend we’ll see a very northerly wind, dragging cold arctic air with it.

“As the showers come towards us it will be a rainy, sleety mix and as we get to the weekend there’s a chance of snow showers but at the moment the detail and intensity of them are open to question.

“It will depend on the exact air temperature, the strength of the wind, the exact amount of humidity and also the time of day that the showers fall.”
