In St. Helier No 1 – the most southerly section of the parish – there are eight candidates going for just three places.

All three of the district’s current politicians – Judy Martin, Russell Labey, and Scott Wickenden – are seeking re-election.

Challenging them are three Reform party candidates – John McNichol, Kelly Langdon, and Yann Mash – and two independents – Nick Le Cornu and Jason Lagadu.

There’s already been a hustings held, but it’s possible there could be two others.

One of those has already been fixed, and will take place at the Town Hall on Wednesday 2 May at 19:00.

No matter what district they live in, all St. Helier parishioners in St. Helier – like parishioners across the island – will also have the opportunity to choose up to eight senators from a list of 17 candidates. But where parishoners vote depends on the district in which they live. Parishioners living in No 1 vote at the Town Hall, the same place where they go to vote for their deputies.

Election day is Wednesday 16 May.
