Because current Deputy Rod Bryans is not seeking election, and Sam Mezec is standing for senator, the district will certainly be returning at least two new politicians.
The one sitting politician who is seeking re-election is Geoff Southern. Two other Reform candidates have also put their names forward: Rob Ward and Carina Alves. The other four names on the ballot paper are independents: Geraint Jennings, Linda Dodds, Bernie Manning, and Barry Shelton.
Linda Dodds declined Express’s invitation to record an election video saying she was too busy.
There’ll be a hustings for the deputies of St Helier No2 at 19:30 at the Town Hall on Thursday 3 May.
All parishioners in St Helier no matter what district they live in – like parishioners across the island – will also have the opportunity to choose up to eight senators from a list of 17 candidates. But where parishioners vote depends on the district in which they live. Parishioners living in No2 vote at Springfield Sports Centre, the same place where they go to vote for their deputies. Election day is Wednesday 16 May.
