The States put out a pollution warning on Tuesday after Gold Leaf Farm’s slurry tank ruptured on land at Le Prés Manor, near Grouville marsh, releasing up to 900 cubic metres of sludge into the bay.

Environmental officers are now investigating the incident under the Water Pollution Law. They’ve also been working on the big clear-up at the farm and trying to limit the damage from the spill that reached the outfall near the Beach Hotel.

The Environment department are monitoring the situation and are now looking at releasing water from Queen’s Valley immediately after high tide so that any remaining slurry is washed out to sea.

They’ve let local Oyster farmers know about the spill and have urged walkers and dog walkers to stay off the beach in Grouville.
