Taking place at Centrepoint, the aim is to raise money for the charity, which provides a community play care centre and nursery.
Express quizzed Liam Nunn, owner of Milk, the media partner for the event, about it…
How did the Super Fun Megafest Comic Con come to be?
There was a really brilliant comic con style event in Jersey just before lockdown. Without that running this year, we wanted to keep the spirit alive and do something similar, with a higher focus on family entertainment. It is being jointly run by CIWW and Centrepoint as a non-profit event, with the proceeds going towards Centrepoint and the great work they do in the community.
Why focus on retro pop culture?
The nostalgia market is huge! Retro games, vintage characters – ‘the good old days’. Reboots are rife in the modern world of entertainment because those older characters have emotional attachments and we, the audience, love to see them.

We want to celebrate the old by doing something to keep the little ones entertained all day long – whilst the big kids enjoy looking at all the cool stuff they remember and miss from their youth!
What can visitors expect on the day?
A bonanza of interactive retro pop culture fun. We are showcasing local talent in the form of prop makers, artists, wrestlers and performers. It’s a family-focused event, and we want to inspire kids to have fun and make things.
You will see Star Wars Jersey, Spiderman and Deadpool roaming around. There will be comic art workshops with Motion Studio, comic books on sale with BubbleGumComics and a huge range of video games to play thanks to Jersey Retro Gaming.

There will also be superhero photoshoot opportunities with Capow Jersey and live wrestling with CIWW. Local artist Theo Jenner will be working on a live mural and the Street Angels will be showing off their street dance moves. Finally, there will be cosplay props displays and demonstrations by Dax79, Ric Bois and Bluejam77. Make sure you wear your best fancy dress/cosplay, there will be a competition for the best costume!
What would you say is the one thing not to miss?
I co-run the wrestling, so I would be an absolute madman if I didn’t say that! We’re bringing our sell-out shows to do some live bish, bash, boshing with larger-than-life characters to boo and cheer!

However, the cosplay experts we have involved are really impressive! Some award-winning costumes to wow and inspire you – what will you wear?
