The fire destroyed an area covering 1,600 sqm between the Railway Walk and La Moye Golf Club – and the fire service says that if the wind had been blowing in a different direction, it could have been much worse.
They are now urging people to be careful when disposing of their BBQ’s or cigarettes and if they are having bonfires – the exact cause of this fire hasn’t yet been released, and is being investigated by the Police.
