Four people were brought safely into St Helier Harbour after their sailing vessel suffered a mechanical failure six nautical miles south of Corbière this weekend.
The St Helier volunteer lifeboat crew was called out at around 8pm on Saturday after the 14-metre vessel, which had four people on board, reported that it was unable to make way.
Difficulty contacting those on board meant the RNLI crew used radar and a FLIR camera to locate the yacht, which was more than a mile south of its reported position.
Once alongside, the crew found the vessel had no propulsion and intermittent communications.
With stronger winds forecast overnight, they decided the safest option was to tow it back to St Helier.
The vessel was safely placed on a pontoon before the all-weather lifeboat returned to the station.
The volunteer crew finished washing down and checking the lifeboat before leaving at around midnight.
