Separated by more than 4,000 miles of ocean, Jersey is joining forces with Antigua and Barbuda to create twin public murals exploring what it means to call an island ‘home’.
The project, which is part of the Art in the Arches project and is hoped to be the start of a “long and rewarding partnership” between the islands, focuses on the theme of ‘Safe Haven Across the Sea’.
Artists from both islands will be working together on a new mural at Elizabeth Marina, followed by a second mural in Antigua in October.

“A pioneering cultural exchange”
Mark Brown, the head of the Department of Fine Arts and Creative Studies in Antigua and Barbuda’s College of Advanced Studies, called the project a “pioneering cultural exchange”.
He said: “This collaboration offers our students an exceptional opportunity to engage with fellow young artists, broaden their creative perspectives, and build meaningful international connections.
“We are proud to represent Antigua and Barbuda and look forward to sharing our culture while learning from the rich artistic heritage of Jersey.
“We hope this marks the beginning of a long and rewarding partnership between our islands through the arts.”
