A fundraiser launched to pay for surgery to save the eyesight of a rescue dog has raised over half of its £10,000 target.
Walter arrived at the JSPCA last year “in quite a sorry state” after his original owner fell ill and couldn’t care for him anymore.
But despite his “terrible state”, the tiny dog “showed much promise”, according to the animal shelter.
Walter’s “guardian angel” and JSPCA volunteer Zeffrienne D’Ulivo-Rogers spent months helping him rehabilitate – and adopted the tiny dog earlier this year, alongside Liam Dunne.
His owners last month launched a fundraising page to raise £10,000 to pay for a “complicated and high-risk” operation to save Walter’s eyesight. Over £5,000 has been raised so far.

In an update following the operation, Liam said: “Walter has been making the most of his new eyesight and has done many miles in his pram inbetween vet visits.
“He is still not very well but his bloods are starting to improve. Fingers crossed he starts to feel better soon.
“Surgery didn’t quite go to plan but his eyes have been saved and we just have to hope that they stay stable over the next few weeks.”
