Ahead of its removal, many islanders flocked to the eastern bay to catch a glimpse of the green giant, and photos posted to social media attracted an array of jokey comments about the “bad buoy”.
The buoy was removed by crane from the beach later that day.
Last night, Ports of Jersey confirmed that it had “now been checked over and returned to its position.”
“Geomarine sent divers down to locate its block and chain on the seabed, and these were then winched onto the deck of the Handfast,” a spokesperson explained.
“The Halcyon then towed the buoy alongside the Handfast in order to be reattached to its chain.
“We would like to thank Geomarine, Suttons and Blandins for their assistance.”
