Girls could join Victoria College’s sixth form under a proposal now open for public consultation.

The college’s Board of Governors has proposed admitting girls, with Islanders being invited to share their views before any decision is made.

Education Minister Catherine Curtis launched the consultation today, encouraging anyone with an interest in Jersey’s education system to take part.

Students, parents, staff, governors and the wider community are all being asked for their opinions.

The consultation is required under the Education (Jersey) Law 1999 before a decision can be taken.

Alongside the sixth-form proposal, Islanders will be asked a broader question: should Jersey families have the option of a fee-paying school educating boys and girls together from primary age through to sixth form?

That separate question is intended to help shape future education planning.

The consultation runs until 4 January 2027.

The consultation paper and online survey are available on the government’s website.
