This is the first time that Art in the Frame Foundation – the charity that runs The Harbour Gallery – has organised such an exhibition, with the main aim to give local artists “a first step up the ladder”, free of charge.
Thanks to the sponsorship of the Islands Foundation, participating artists didn’t have to pay fees to exhibit, and no commissions will be taken on sales.

Pat Robson, the charity’s chairman and Gallery director, said the charity hoped “encourage artists who perhaps are nervous about getting themselves out into the art scene”.
The exhibition was originally only intended to shine a light on 10 artists, but the response to the idea was so strong that they included 16.
The 16 finalists starting out their artistic career are: Felicity Nightingale, Daniel Riley, Kathy Alderson, Judith Clare, Elizabeth Adams, Kevin White, Dylan Kempster-Smyth, Nadege Pannetier, Catia Riva, Rosina Evans, Kurt Balleine, Memae Le Tiec, Gina Rabet, Connie Hayers, Kimberly Ransom and Gemma Midgeley.

Ms Robson said: “We are delighted to see so much talent right here in Jersey that in fact, it was a real struggle to narrow down our exhibition finalists.
“As the charity was started 21 years ago to promote up and coming artists, we feel that this year, our 21st birthday, is the ideal opportunity to hold such an exhibition.”
