Drivers were warned of debris and trees on the roads this morning as many returned to work after the Christmas break.

The strong winds have also caused travel disruption for those trying to get on or off the island today.

Condor have cancelled both the Liberation and Rapide ferry sailings, but additional services have been scheduled for tomorrow.

With wind speeds due to reach 60mph across Friday and Saturday, all High-Speed services have been placed “under review”.

In a statement, the ferry provider explained: “Whilst it is possible that the weather will moderate, this is not certain. Any passengers booked on these days are encouraged to travel on services tomorrow Thursday 28th December or transfer to our conventional service Portsmouth – Channel Islands – Portsmouth where capacity permits.”

Jersey Airport has also confirmed a number of flights has been delayed or cancelled because of the high winds as well as operational reasons due to the lack of available plane or staff.

Jersey Met have forecast the strong F8 winds to drop to F6 to F7 by mid afternoon, then moderate F4 to fresh F5 towards dawn.
