The ‘hit and run’ incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning around 00:30 outside the Carlton Apartments at Havre des Pas.

A blue Land Rover had been parked in the area to drop off passengers, when it was clipped by a white vehicle said to be heading east in the direction of the White Horse pub.

Police said the vehicle itself wasn’t damaged, but the door “ricocheted”, hitting one of the passengers – a 54-year-old man – in the face.

He was taken to A&E by a friend, where his face was stitched up.

Police are now seeking more information about the collision, urging islanders to call 612612 or make an anonymous report using the Crimestoppers online form.
