A nine-year-old islander has organised a “joyful” fundraising event for Jersey Hospice Care in memory of her beloved grandad.
Isla Lappage came up with the ‘Dancing in the Light of Love’ event as a way to celebrate the sense of togetherness felt after losing a loved one.
Her creative vision was to put together an afternoon of dancing, glitter, yoga, and kindness, as well as a space where people could feel happy again while remembering those they have lost.

“I wanted to do something happy after my grandad died,” explained Isla.
“I thought dancing and yoga and glitter would help people feel love again, even if they feel sad inside.”
Her mum Abigail spoke to Eve Studios to help bring the idea to life.
The community event will take place at the Jersey Hospice Day Centre on Mont Cochon tomorrow between 2pm and 5pm, in aid of the charity.
On Saturday afternoon, participants can choose from three 45-minute dance and yoga sessions.
There will also be a raffle and a selection of creative activities including face painting and a colouring station.
Each class will cost £10, with all funds going directly to Jersey Hospice Care.
Isla said: “My grandad was cared for by a lovely nurse from Hospice called Julie, and after he died, I got to meet Mary, who helped me feel better.
“Hospice care is free, but it costs a lot of money every day to keep it running, so I wanted to do something to help.”

Eve Studios founder Trudi Roscouet said: “When Abigail told us about Isla’s idea, we were completely moved.
“This is a child who has experienced loss but wants to help others feel light again – that’s incredibly powerful.
“Eve Studios is all about women and girls supporting each other, and we’re honoured to help Isla create something so special for Hospice.”
The event is aimed at girls and women aged six and above. There will be a choice of three classes on Saturday 14 February:
- Glow & Grove with Lucy at 2.30pm
- Zumba Vibes with Ana at 3.30pm
- Power & Peace Yoga with Rashmi at 4.30pm
Tickets can be purchased online.
