ADHD Europe conference to come to Jersey next year

Jersey is to host a major European ADHD conference next year, bringing together representatives from 30 organisations across the continent for what organisers have described as a “historic moment” for the island.

A successful bid by non-profit organisation ADHD Jersey saw the island chosen ahead of Madrid.

A presentation was delivered in Athens by ADHD Jersey founder Rachel Boss and wellbeing lead Will Crawford at ADHD Europe’s annual meeting last month.

Speaking to Express afterwards, Ms Boss said: “It has really given us such an opportunity to contact people who have worked in the industry. They welcomed us with open arms.

“It was between us or Madrid – and they chose us after we did our presentation.”

Ms Boss described the moment that Jersey secured the event as “amazing”, adding: “It feels like an incredible honour.”

“It just goes to show what can be done, and we are extremely grateful they chose a grassroots organisation like us,” she said.

A statement from ADHD Jersey said the gathering would be “more than a conference” for Islanders.

“It will be a chance to share our story, learn from others who have walked further down the road, and bring international best practice home to benefit islanders,” the statement said.

“It will spotlight Jersey’s growing leadership in neurodivergent advocacy and create new opportunities for collaboration, research, training and policy influence. We see this as a turning point.”

Further details, including dates, programme information and partnership opportunities, are expected to be released in the coming months.

Businesses, organisations and individuals interested in supporting the conference as sponsors or partners have been invited to contact ADHD Jersey at hello@adhd.je.
