An investigation is underway after an emailed bomb threat sparked an evacuation at Jersey Airport yesterday.

Hundreds of passengers and staff were evacuated from the building at around 06:30 on Wednesday 5 March.

Emergency services – including armed police – rushed to the scene, and all flights were suspended.

With no evidence of any device found during the search, the threat was deemed as “non-credible”.

Jersey Airport subsequently reopened at 11:20 yesterday – almost five hours after the evacuation.

A Ports of Jersey spokesperson confirmed that an investigation into the incident will now take place.

The incident came four weeks after island schools were targeted by a hoaxer, with one establishment – St George’s Prep in St Peter – being evacuated and remaining closed for the remainder of the day.
