A 52-year-old chief financial officer has begun his gruelling charity fundraiser, which will see him undertake seven Ironman triathlons in seven days.

Peter Wright kick started his challenge on Friday morning with a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, and a marathon-length run.

However, Mr Wright’s mission has only just begun as he will repeat the same every day for the next week, estimated to finish next Thursday 9 October.

The extreme fundraising challenge, dubbed ‘Island Man’, has already raised over £2000 for charity so far.

The proceeds raised will be shared between four charities: CLIC Sargent (Jersey), Kezia’s Fund, Lily’s Fund, and The LouLou Race Foundation.

Mr Wright is estimated to complete over 15 hours of swimming, cycling or running per day, and will cover a distance of 984 miles throughout the seven days.

He will be based at the Radisson Hotel for the next week, with minimal time to rest and sleep throughout the challenge.

However, Mr Wright is no stranger to a challenge, with his previous fundraising antics having included a marathon in the Amazon and the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert.

In February 2023, he also completed a 3,000-mile trans-Atlantic row in a two-man rowing boat alongside his friend, Steve Hayes.

Prosperity 24/7, Mr Wright’s employer, KPMG, Rossborough, Boston Jersey, Big Maggy’s, the Cycle Centre, STS Graphics and the Jersey Sports and Spinal Clinic are among some of the challenge sponsors.
