Mim Poingdestre has so far raised just over £1,380.

Earlier this year, in April, she decided to brave the elements and mark her milestone 60th birthday in style by swimming 60k in 60 days.

The challenge was no mean feat, and Mim worked tirelessly in both the sea and the pool to complete her challenge.

But the challenge was not just a personal one for Mim. She used it to support a cause close to her heart – the Jersey Lifeboat Association.

She set off with a target of £1,000 which she has already reached thanks to the help of 56 supporters.

All the funds will be going to support the purchase of the Association’s new inshore rib which is due for delivery in the coming weeks.

Mum has now sailed past her distance target as well but with just a couple of days to go before the end of the 60 days, islanders can still support this “great lady” and her contribution to the work of the Association, which will benefit the local community as a whole.
