The Jersey Lifeboat Association brought a boat back to safety after it found itself “drifting in the darkness” without wind or fuel in the early hours of this morning.
Crew were called to the JLA’s all-weather lifeboat Sir Max Aitken III not long after midnight to rescue a sailing vessel west of Corbière.

A JLA spokesperson said that the boat had empty fuel tanks, no wind in its sails and battery power “fading fast”.
“With no way to make progress, she was left drifting in the darkness,” they continued.
“Sir Max slipped her lines and headed west into the night, the crew making quick work of locating the vessel and securing her for the long tow home.”
Both boats had arrived safely in St Helier by 04:30.
“The Jersey Lifeboat Association are ready and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – ready to answer the call, whatever the weather,” the spokesperson added.
