Islanders are being invited to reflect on the past year by writing a letter to their future selves.
The ‘Letter to Yourself’ initiative encourages islanders to explore thoughts of gratitude, hope and encouragement through a letter – which will then be sent back to them at the end of 2026.
Stations have been set up at St Paul’s Church, with prompt cards and refreshments available in order to create a calm and welcoming environment in which to write.
Participants will seal and address their own letters, which will then be posted by the church in December 2026.
The initiative was inspired by a café in Europe that allows visitors to write themselves a letter that they then receive at a later date.

Assistant youth minister Esther Le Ruez said that the project would be an “uplifting event that gives people the opportunity to pause at the start of this year and to look forward to what is in store for the year ahead”.
“I think it’s so important before we launch ourselves into a new year and get caught up in the busyness of everything, that we just take a moment,” she explained.
“We’re encouraging people to think about something they’re thankful for, what they’re looking forward to or hoping for in 2026.”
The event will run from 10am until 2pm each day until Thursday 8 January.
