A Jersey author known for her island-themed illustrated children’s books is to read stories from around the world to home-schooled children at an event next week.
Penny Byrne, the author of World of Folktales and Legends, will be at the event at the Library on Tuesday 11 February.
The event is aimed at children who are being home-schooled and will be attended by the Association of Home Educators.
World of Folktales and Legends is a collection of myths, fables and folktales from around the world, with stories but also songs, proverbs and recipes.
It was commissioned by the International Cultural Centre and launches on International Mother Language Day on Friday 21 February. Some of the stories are featured in their original language.
Every child attending is expected to be given a copy, as part of an initiative to give every Year 3 and 4 pupil in the island the book.
The book launch takes place from 10am on Tuesday 11 February at the Library.
