Tales of black dogs, dragons and fantastical bridges to Normandy have all been told over the centuries, with many stories leaving traces in modern place names and references.
Published historian Paul Darroch latest project is to unravel some of the myths and legends that have captivated islanders for hundreds of years.
His aim is not only to retell the narrative but to try to explain the story behind these stories to find out what do they tell us about ourselves and the community we belong to.
