Obsession is the only event of its kind that brings together 25 chefs, with 27 Michelin stars between them, to cook over a 15-night festival. This year, the 15th, sold out within 24 hours of the tickets going on sale.

The festival, which is organised by the Northcote Leisure Group at the Northcote Hotel in Lancashire, runs from 23 January until 7 February.

Mr Rankin will be cooking on 6 February on the Great British Menu Night, alongside Glynn Purnell, Kenny Atkinson and the resident, chef Nigel Haworth.

Other chefs taking part include Ken Hom, Tsuyoshi Murakami from Brazil, and Gaggan Anand, India’s most celebrated chef. Each chef is briefed to cook a showstopping dinner to showcase local produce.

Mr Rankin said: “Obsession is a very special event and a wonderful opportunity for me to showcase Ormer and Jersey in the UK. It’s also a great platform for all the chefs to enrich our experience by exchanging ideas. Nigel Haworth deserves great respect for what he has achieved at Northcote and I believe Obsession will be the culinary event of 2015.”
