An urgent recall has been issued for batches of Jersey Dairy milk and butter after contamination was discovered that renders the products “unfit for human consumption”.
The company confirmed that limited quantities of its 2.5% Fat Reduced Milk (green pack) 1 litre with a use-by date of 23 March and 250g Unsalted Butter with a best-before date of 8 June 2026 may have been contaminated.
Jersey Dairy said the level of contamination detected was extremely low – estimated at around one part per million – and there have been no reports of illness linked to the products.
“This recall is a precautionary measure,” the dairy said.
Most of the affected stock has already been detained, but the dairy confirmed that some products were supplied to customers on Wednesday 11 March and Thursday 12 March.
Wholesalers, retailers and other customers have been notified and asked to remove the items from sale and use immediately.
Jersey Dairy confirmed it has been working closely with the Environmental Health Department and Public Health Department.
In a statement, the company apologised for the disruption caused to customers.
“We offer our sincere apologies to all customers for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation in removing these products from sale and use with immediate effect,” a spokesperson said.
Jersey Dairy emphasised that no other products are affected by the recall.
