In a record-breaking year for the annual Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling Scheme, over 2,000 natural Christmas trees were picked up from around the Island in support of Jersey Hospice Care.
With so many trees donated, the scheme used more vans than ever before – almost 30 in total – and saw between 60 and 70 volunteer elves lend their green fingers in support.
Sponsored by Aztec Group and supported by the Department for Infrastructure, the donated Christmas trees will now by turned into soil improver for gardens and farmland on the Island.
Tom Wilkinson, Marketing Manager of Aztec Group, described Jersey people’s support for the scheme as “astonishing.”
“The scheme is a great way to pull the community together in a considerable fundraising effort and the Aztec Group are proud to be able to help both practically and financially.”
