Drugmaker Mylan NV announced last week that some batches of the allergy injection – often used by those with fatal nut allergies – would be recalled across Europe, Asia and North and South America after two reports of devices failing to work in emergencies.

The recalled product was originally manufactured by Meridian Medical Technologies and had been distributed between December 2015 and July 2016. 

Islanders had expressed concern that this may affect pens used by Jersey people, but the Department for Health and Social Services confirmed to Express that local pharmacies have never stocked these batches.

Nonetheless, those who may have purchased the defective pen while abroad are advised to check their supplies.
