The Clean Marina certificate is valid for three years, after which time Jersey’s marinas will be reassessed.
The accreditation was achieved through a TYHA scheme that seeks to encourage marinas across the world to manage segregated and hazardous waste, prevent spillage and plastic pollution among other sustainable practices.
Jersey Marinas were assessed by TYHA in August 2022 and were awarded accreditation this year.
Donford Nicholas, Ports of Jersey’s Head of Maritime Delivery and Business Development, said: “We understand how important it is to ensure our marina operations do not pollute Jersey’s coastal waters.
“We have worked hard to ensure our infrastructure and waste systems minimise the risk to the island’s shores and are delighted to have been recognised by the Yacht Harbour Association’s international Clean Marina scheme.”
It is not the first time that Jersey Marinas have been recognised by TYHA, having previously been awarded the organisation’s ‘5 Gold Anchor’ status.
The Gold Anchor scheme is jointly administered by the Marine Industries Association and focuses on customer and business service standards.
