A short story collection written by some of the island’s youngest authors is set to be the main character of this year’s World Book Day celebrations.
The Jersey Files – a collection of spooky short stories inspired by the island’s folklore – was written by students from Le Rocquier, Grainville, Les Quennevais, Jersey College for Girls, and Victoria College.
The book was created through school workshops with award-winning author Peter J. Murray.
Le Rocquier students will be showcasing their creation at du Gruchy department store tomorrow to mark World Book Day.
Store director Simon Youden said de Gruchy was “delighted” to support young local writers.

Children up to the age of 12 dressed as a book character will also be able to get a complimentary hot chocolate at de Gruchy’s brasserie from 14:30 on Thursday 6 March.
And with staff dressed as “beloved literary characters”, Mr Youden said the event was “a great example of how we bring something extra special to our customers”.
He added: “From meeting characters from beloved books to stepping into the world of local storytelling, we’re inviting customers to immerse themselves in the magic of literature while enjoying everything our store has to offer.”
