Jersey Zoo has welcomed its first white-faced whistling ducklings in over a decade.

The three ducklings are “doing really well”, according to a recent post on the conservation charity’s social media.

The baby birds were born to one of Jersey Zoo’s existing male ducks and a female who came to the island last year from tourist wetland centre in Gloucestershire.

The white-faced whistling duck naturally breeds in sub-Saharan Africa and much of South America.

It is not listed as an endangered species and the worldwide population is estimated at over 1.7 million.

For the first time since 2013, visitors to Jersey Zoo will be able to see the new ducklings in the Madagascar Teal Aviary near Tamarin Woods.
