A seven-year-old boy with a “big heart” is due to run a mile next month in memory of a “dear” family friend.
Charlie Reed will take on the Marathon Mile as part of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon next weekend.
He is running to raise funds for men’s mental health charity Andy’s Man Club.
The suicide prevention charity works to break the stigma surrounding men’s mental health, by offering free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online.

Charlie’s family explained that the charity was chosen in memory of friend James Campbell, whose birthday falls this week.
Mum Charlene Moullin said: “As a family we are so proud of Charlie for taking on the Marathon Mile with such a big heart.
“We’ve been keeping active together at Quennevais track and doing the parkrun, and Charlie is really looking forward to the event.
“Raising money for Andy’s Man Club means so much to us because it’s in memory of our dear family friend James, who supported this charity himself.
“Supporting this cause feels like the best way we can honour James’ memory.”
Charlie added that he is “looking forward to the run” and is “happy that the money is going to help other people”.
He has already raised over £1,700 for Andy’s Man Club.
