A dynamic movie musical is set to burst onto the local stage tonight as the Jersey Green Room Theatre Company brings the 80s classic Footloose to audiences at the Royal Jersey Showground.

The 1998 musical is based on the 1984 film of the same name.

It tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town, where he attempts to overturn a ban on dancing enforced by a local minister.

The show is directed by Alice Veitch, choreographed by Megan Reynolds, with Luke Brown as musical director.

The cast is led by Jake Osborne, Orla Brennan and Richard Joynt.

Footloose opens tonight at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity and runs each evening until Friday 17 April, with daytime shows also taking place on Saturday 11 April and Sunday 12 April.

A British Sign Language interpreted performance is scheduled for Friday 10 April at 7.30pm.

The production will feature a cast of more than 40 performers and musicians, with a live soundtrack of classic 1980s hits.

The production is staged in-the-round, with seating around three sides providing a fully immersive theatre experience.

Tickets are available through the Jersey Arts Centre box office or website.
