Kinta had been missing for five weeks but was reunited with its grateful owners after firefighters clawed the soggy moggy out of the oil tank, thus avoiding a real CATastrophe.

At 15:22 the Fire Service received a call saying the cat’s owners had located their puss, but it was trapped in a domestic heating oil tank on Belmont Road.

Four firefighters attended and a cat’s whiskers of a plan was developed so that Kinta wouldn’t suffer any further stress.

The firefighters created an opening in a wall to allow the cat to get out. Kinta was freed shortly afterwards and reunited with his thankful owners.
