Firefighters rescued a dog from the cliff paths at Bouley Bay this weekend using specialist rope equipment.

The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident on Saturday afternoon.

A couple called the emergency service after their springer spaniel became trapped on cliffs to the east of Bouley Bay.

The Fire Service said: “Realising that there was no safe way of reaching their dog themselves, they requested our assistance, rather than put themselves at unnecessary risk.

“Our crews responded with specialist rope rescue equipment and were able to locate and secure the dog, prior to rescuing it.”

The dog was “extremely tired” but uninjured, and was reunited with its owners.

The Fire Service also responded to a separate incident on Sunday afternoon.

A family of five became trapped by the incoming tide whilst exploring the coast near Seymour Tower.

The Fire Service explained: “Fortunately, the family were aware of the refuge tower, located half way between Seymour Tower and the shore, and made their way to this.

“Jersey Coastguard mobilised a fire crew in one of our inshore rescue boats to rescue the five people, who were all returned to shore safe and well.”
