Family members paid tribute to Mohammed Kieran Le Bail, who went by Kieran, with the 23-year-old described as “passionate” about motorsports.

Coroner Cyril Whelan added that it was “great” to see Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, who Kieran had worked for since 2019, represented at the inquest into his death.

Kieran died during a sprint event organised by the Jersey Motorcycle and Light Car Club on 24 June 2023.

The inquest heard that conditions were good and that there was nothing wrong with Kieran’s motorcycle on the day he died.

Race radio controller James Ollivro described seeing Kieran’s bike hit a small pavement, come off the road and hit a pole.

The inquest heard Kieran received medical care, first from a registered nurse who was also a club helper and then in the ambulance and at the Hospital, where he had emergency surgery.

Attempts to resuscitate Kieran were unsuccessful and he died later that evening.

The cause of death was traumatic brain and cervical spine injuries along with multiple traumatic injuries, Advocate Whelan said.

Advocate Whelan extended his condolences to Kieran’s family and friends.

Witness Mark Schollhammer said he thought the event was well-organised with enough marshals and officials.

Kieran’s fiancée, Ashyanna Ball, said the couple had been just weeks away from buying a house.

She now races in his memory and is passionate about motorsports herself.

Kieran’s mother, Anita Le Bail, called him “a beautiful boy” who was intelligent and had achieved a lot in his 23 years.

“He achieved so much in such a short time and he touched so many people’s hearts,” she said.

“He was always helping people. If anyone needed anything, he was always there.”

She said she was “so grateful to have him as my son”.

“He loved his motorsports. He was good at what he did and he took pride in what he did.

“We will just forever miss him.”
