The average grade for the 2014/2015 group of students taking A Level exams was a B-, according to stats released by the department.

And they say that the proportion of students staying on for A Levels and the average results, including the results at top grades, was higher than in the UK.

The statistics show:

–       Boys for an average of 222.2 points at A Level, compared to 235.2 for girls, and both were higher than the previous year.

–       The average point score as a grade for boys was C+, and the average grade for girls was a B.

–       One-in-ten pupils attained three A* to A grades.

–       Last year, 263 girls and 209 boys took A Level exams.
