The ‘Lowe’s Legacy Summer Party’ will take place at the Westhill Country Hotel on 25 August in memory of Dean Lowe (48) and his 11-year-old son, Charlie.

The father and son died in August 2023 after being hit by a vehicle on Rue de Fauvic in Grouville.

A Jersey man was remanded in custody earlier this year after pleading guilty to two counts of causing death by careless driving.

But Dylan John Pounds denied two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, two charges of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, and a further charge of holding a telephone whilst driving.

He is due to stand trial in October.

Following the success of a fundraising page set up in memory of the father and son, the ‘Lowe’s Legacy Fund’ was launched last November to promote accessibility to the arts and music, support disadvantaged communities in the island, and aid development of those with learning disabilities – subjects close to Dean and Charlie’s hearts.

The Lowe’s Legacy Gig was the first fundraising event for this cause, with the inaugural concert raising more than £17,000.

A host of local acts took to the stage in memory of Dean and Charlie including Beatles tribute band, the Beantles, and a ‘Mad-Chester mash-up’ involving musicians who had played with Dean and knew him.

Tickets are now on sale for next month’s Lowe’s Legacy Summer Party which will see many of the same acts return.

Islanders can expect seven hours of live music from The Reminders (which was Dean’s group), The Impressions, The Beantles, Jaime Boylen, Jenny O’Shea, and many more, as well as the opportunity to enjoy “Westhill’s infamous BBQ”.

There will also be bouncy castles, glitter face-painting and more.

Organisers wrote on the event page: “Following the success of the Lowe’s Legacy Gig held at Chambers in November last year, we wanted to continue with the music event but focusing on children and the things that Charlie liked to do.”

They reminded attendees that food and drink stalls are not included in the ticket price, and the swimming pool will be for use of hotel residents only.
