After being cancelled due to the pandemic last year, the annual Jersey Round Table Charity Ball was due to take place on 27 November.

It was going to be raising money for Mind Jersey, the Jersey Heart Support Group and Causeway.

But organisers said following a meeting this morning: “We believe that we have a social responsibility to the club members, guests and everyone who helps support the ball – with the rise in Coronavirus cases locally, we believe that it would not be the right decision to push ahead.

“We are looking to reschedule the ball to springtime next year and will be looking to book a date at the RJA&HS in the next few days.”

They pledged to refund all tickets in full, and guarantee buyers first refusal to tickets for the rescheduled spring event.

According to statistics issued by the Government this afternoon, 87 new covid cases have been detected since Monday and there are now 910 people recorded as having covid in Jersey.

Seven people are in hospital – one more than yesterday – and three cases have been identified within local care homes.
