Five new officers have officially joined the States of Jersey Police, each bringing specialist skills from policing roles across the UK – from counter-terrorism to forensic collision investigation.
PCs Peter Devoy, Natalie Devoy, Gary T., Storm McEvoy, and Isabel Atherley took their oaths of office in the Royal Court on Friday, marking the start of their service in the island.
As he presented them with their warrant cards, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Hafey highlighted the strength of experience within the group.
“You each arrive here having already demonstrated your commitment to public service and having built experience in policing environments across the UK,” he said.
“That experience matters. It strengthens us as a service, broadens our perspective, and ultimately improves the way we serve our community here in Jersey.
“We are welcoming five officers who bring with them a genuinely impressive breadth of experience. From response policing and criminal investigation, to counter terrorism and forensic collision investigation, safeguarding, and proactive policing.
“That is something we recognise, and something we value.”
A family move into policing in Jersey
Among the new recruits are married couple PCs Peter and Natalie Devoy, who are joining the force together.

Natalie Devoy began her policing career with the Metropolitan Police at the age of 21, after previously living in Egypt.
She gained experience in response and neighbourhood policing, as well as working within a Missing Persons Unit.
More recently, she specialised in counter-terrorism, focusing on Prevent work and safeguarding individuals at risk of radicalisation.
Peter Devoy joined the same force in 2018, working initially on emergency response before moving into a Predatory Offender Unit, where he was involved in tracking high-risk suspects.
In 2022, he qualified as a forensic collision investigator, contributing to investigations that support court and coroner proceedings.
Decades of specialist expertise
Gary T. brings more than two decades of policing experience, having served with Kent Police and the Metropolitan Police since 2004.

He has relocated to Jersey with his wife – who is from the island – and their young child.
His career has included major investigations into terrorism and war crimes, including work connected to the 2017 terrorist attacks.
Since specialising in forensics in 2020, he has worked on complex cases involving disaster victim identification, hazardous materials, repatriations and maritime incidents.
PC T. has also contributed to improvements in how serious sexual offences are investigated, helping implement the Operation Soteria programme during his time in a rape and serious sexual offences unit.
Local connections return home
Two of the new officers have strong ties to Jersey.
Storm McEvoy, who was born in the island, left at 18 to join the Royal Artillery before moving into policing with Sussex Police in 2023.
She worked in response policing in Horsham and now returns to Jersey to continue her career.

Isabel Atherley also grew up in Jersey before studying psychology at Plymouth University.
She joined Avon and Somerset Police through the Detective Constable Degree Holder Entry Programme and worked in the Criminal Investigations Department in Bridgwater.
Her experience also includes time on a detainee investigations team and a proactive policing unit covering East Somerset.
