The event is one of the biggest free, open-air family events in the tourism calendar, and the organiser Kevin Lewis, the former cinema projectionist who is a States Member in his day job, says that he’s looking for a sponsor to come forward.
The event runs for seven nights, with seven different films – Deputy Lewis says that they have to stick to family films, and Disney movies are always a big hit, as are musicals and James Bond films.
On a good night, the Deputy says that they can get 3,500 people through the gates, and that he hopes the chance of branding the event will pull in a sponsor.
“We’re looking for around £8,500 in sponsorship,” he said.
“It was listed in the Guardian newspaper as one of the top ten outdoor events in the UK and ‘not to be missed’ – which is nice, even if we’re not really in the UK!”
The event takes place in Howard Davis Park from the 9th to the 15th of August, and anyone can attend. A schedule of films will be announced soon.
