A 21-year-old motorist has admitted dangerous driving after tearing off one of his wheels and hitting two other cars whilst driving along St Saviour’s Hill.
Philip Larbi was driving his grey Volkswagen Golf and took a corner too fast at 13:00 on 13 December last year, the Magistrate’s Court was told.
He ended up crossing the central white line, and over-compensated as he tried to return to his own lane.
Advocate Katie Ridley, prosecuting, said: “His nearside front wheel was sheared off.
“The car then rolled down the hill.”
Larbi’s car hit and damaged two other vehicles, but no-one sustained serious injuries.
One passenger in another car suffered a sore shoulder.
Advocate Stephen Wauchope, defending, pointed out that Larbi had no previous convictions and had written a letter of remorse.
Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke adjourned sentencing until 5 September to allow time for a pre-sentence report and imposed an interim driving ban.
