The trees were part of the Grand Hotel’s ‘Winter Domes’ installation.
Thanking the hotel for the donation, Deputy Curator of Mammals Georgia Gotts, said: “These trees aren’t something the animals receive all year round, so they provide a lot of fun and enrichment for them, as well as great nesting materials for some of our birds.
“Our gelada baboons and golden Guernsey goats will love them as they’re perfect enrichment tools due to their unusual scent and texture, and they’ll have a lot of fun climbing on them too!”

The hotel’s General Manager Tim O’Sullivan added: “We’re delighted to be able to re-gift the beautiful trees that we have enjoyed over the last month to Jersey Zoo.
“It’s now the animals’ turn to enjoy them and will provide them with something extra to keep them stimulated.
“It’s really good to know that they won’t be going to waste!”

The trees will eventually be collected and used for compost in the Zoo’s organic farm.
Jersey Zoo added that they were not taking more tree donations and asked members of the public not to drop off their own trees.
