The new Chief Officer for the Government’s recently-rebranded Social Security Department has said she is keen to “drive positive change” and “create meaningful opportunities” for islanders in her new role.

Sophie Le Sueur has been appointed as Chief Officer for Employment, Social Security and Housing. 

She been acting in the role on an interim basis since September last year, but will now take on the role permanently following a recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission.

Having started her career at the Government in 2005 as a Careers Advisor, Ms Le Sueur has since held eight different roles across various departments.

She said: “I’m honoured to be appointed as Chief Officer for Employment, Social Security and Housing.

“Having spent my career in Government, I’m passionate about delivering services that truly make a difference to islanders.

“I look forward to working with colleagues and stakeholders to drive positive change and create meaningful opportunities for our community.” 

Social Security Minister Lyndsay Feltham added: “I congratulate Sophie on her appointment as Chief Officer for Employment, Social Security and Housing.

“Her extensive experience, leadership skills, and commitment to public service make her an ideal person to lead the department.

“I look forward to working with her to continue improving services and delivering real benefits for islanders.”
