The Spend Local cards were first launched in September last year at a cost of £11m to the Government, with 106,000 cards given out and 103,000 activated for use.
It was intended to encourage islanders to shop local, and give a boost to the economy following the wake of the pandemic first lockdown.
By the end of the scheme, which expired on 31 October, islanders had used £10.12m of the funds allocated onto the cards in total.
Though the Government had indicated there could be a second round of top ups for the cards at some point, the Treasury Minister has now suggested this could be a while off.

“Our focus is currently on managing the second tranche of the Fiscal Stimulus Fund, and the ongoing support for businesses,” the Minister said.
“No decision on whether to reintroduce the Spend Local scheme will be taken until after the Fiscal Stimulus Fund has been allocated.”
Last month, the Government announced that nearly £23m was being given out to businesses as part of the first round of the Fiscal Stimulus Fund – grants included refurbishments for the Opera House, and improvements to Oakfield sports facilities.
The second tranche of £25m will be released at a later date, and Express understands that the approval process is still ongoing.
