Field 835 on La Route de la Hougue Bie in Grouville was purchased by the Jersey Heritage Trust for £160,000.

Jon Carter, Chief Executive of Jersey Heritage, told Express that there are “no immediate plans” to develop the field.

“La Hougue Bie is one of the most important historic sites in Jersey and home to one of the oldest buildings in the world, the Neolithic passage grave,” Mr Carter said.

“Jersey Heritage has purchased the field opposite as a long-term investment to secure the setting of La Hougue Bie.

“We have no immediate plans for the field and it remains in agriculture use.”
